first of all, i apologize for blogging three times in a row. i have a question for you guys...i found this website pretty helpful with explanations about facial expressions and types of non-verbal communication but i wasn't sure if it was reputable or not. after getting called out during my last group presentation about an unverified source i feel a little nervous about it. how do i know if a site is okay?

thanks for your help!

Hi Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteWhen trying to figure out whether a source is reliable or not, I usually try to judge based on the place it's printed and the author's qualifications. I think that this site would be OK to reference but I might look to see if I could find other material that backs up its claims.
That said, I'm no expert! :)
This one seems tricky because it's a little unclear who/what is behind the site. However, the specific pages have bylines. Kendra Cherry, the woman who answered the questions on this topic, has written a published book on psychology which seems to add credibility. I feel like in situations like this, especially considering it is our first term, you could probably email Perri or Mirah about it.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth,
ReplyDeleteThis is legit as it's a subsidy (?) of the NY Times as mentioned, and linked to the Times in the footer.
Good observation, John!
